E/M Coding Update (2024): Learn about the most recent E/M coding updates for 2024  There is new convention for times assigned to new and established office visits.  There is also new guidance regarding billing for split/shared services (different rules for the AMA vs. Medicare).  The biggest news for 2024 is that the new G code for medical complexity and/or primary care (G2211) goes live on January 1, 2024.  This code will compensate physicians for performing primary care and for addressing complex medical problems on a longitudinal basis and pays about $16.    This course explains it all.

Office-Based Psychiatry E/M Services: Learn how to apply the most recent E/M coding updates and guidance to the most common outpatient psychiatry E/M services.  Using clinical examples, you will learn to select the correct level of care for new office visits, established office visits and outpatient consult services.  The initial psychiatric evaluation codes as well as individual psychotherapy rules and psychotherapy + E/M services are also discussed.

Hospital-Based Psychiatry E/M Services: Learn how to apply the most recent E/M coding updates and guidance to the most common hospital-based psychiatry E/M services.  Using clinical examples, you will learn to select the correct level of care for initial hospital care services (admission H&Ps), subsequent hospital care services (hospital progress notes) and inpatient consult services.  The initial psychiatric evaluation codes as well as individual psychotherapy rules and psychotherapy + E/M services in the hospital setting are also discussed.

Prolonged Services: This course reviews the rules for coding for prolonged services in both the outpatient and inpatient settings. There are two methodologies for coding for prolonged services, one endorsed by the AMA and one endorsed by Medicare. Medicare will ONLY pay for their G codes for prolonged services. This course will take you through the requirements for prolonged services for all outpatient and inpatient encounters.
